AWIN❤️ Love Kenya accomplished more in 2022 than I had even hoped! It goes without saying, but I’m going to say it anyway; without you my friends, family, and associates none of these would have been possible! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ASANTENI SANA.
The biggest achievement in 2022 was launching Busia County’s first SAFE HAVEN for GBV and SGBV Victims. The AWIN❤️ Love Kenya Safe House opened its doors in November and was immediately filled to capacity, demonstrating the utmost need for such a facility. In fact, more women and girls were referred us than our place could handle.
Together we educated 155 girls and boys through our SOMA Bag Education Program. This Program targets impoverished and vulnerable children who otherwise would not be able to continue their education. The SOMA Bag includes school fees, books, uniforms, and shoes.
During our 2022 Menstrual Health Program we distributed free sanitary towels, while talking to boys and girls about sexual reproductive health and rights. This program was developed to prevent teenage pregnancies, stop transactional sex, reduce early teen marriages, stop
sexual violence, and sexually transmitted infections among teenagers. Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19 and school closings, nearly all of these were negatively affected. We must do better for our boys and girls in 2023.
In 2022, AWIN❤️ Love Kenya became a certified Human Rights and Human Trafficking Prevention training organization. Our Mentorship Program, with our partner USIDHR, provided 20 scholarships for Human Trafficking Prevention Certification. We are proud to report all 20 completed the rigorous training program and earned their Certification. They are Empowered and well equipped to Practice for the betterment of our Society.
This past December, I attended the first International Conference on Disability Rights in Alvcir, Turkey, where I was a featured speaker and received my Disability Rights Training Certification. I was also presented with the Excellence Award for my human rights advocacy by USIDHR, a Washington DC Human Rights organization. Based on this incredible Disability Rights Summit, AWIN❤️ Love Kenya will be hosting a Disability Events in Kenya to enhance understanding of Rights and expanding inclusion of our fellow citizens who are Abled-differently.
Again, I thank all those who have supported AWIN❤️ Love Kenya. These accomplishments are shared with you with Love and Gratitude. Together, we can accomplish more in 2023.
