AWINO Love Kenya SAFE HOUSE Busia
It’s the time of realization and actualization of my most SCARIEST and HUGEST dream that I’ve had for quite some time – a safe house for women and teens in Busia County. No project like this is accomplished by oneself, but by friends, family, and associates who share my cause for human rights and gender equality.
A basic human right is to live without fear of being beaten or worse. Too many women in Kenya, live in fear of being abused and suffer in silent moods and feel they have no alternative but to stay. Too many teen girls have been defiled and cannot get away from their perpetrator. Too many times – and this must be stopped!
This, AWINO Love Kenya Safe House is the first step in Busia County to help these women and girls have a safe haven to seek justice, to heal, and to find the help needed to take the next steps in their lives.
I’ve been helped by too many to mention everyone here, but I’d like to first thank my husband who convinced me I could do this – showing behind every great woman is a supportive man!
This is not the end goal, but just the beginning!
